David Sturge is a passionate, award winning Wildlife Conservation Photographer based in Newfoundland and Labrador whose work is deeply rooted in a lifelong connection to the province's rugged landscapes, coastal communities, and natural heritage.

In addition to his work behind the camera, he serves as a provincial Park Ranger, a Wildlife Guide, Sea Captain and Expedition Team Lead. He brings decades of hands-on experience and a deeply intimate knowledge of the wild animals, the land and the sea to his photography.

In 2026 David was selected as Canadian Geographic Wildlife Photographer and joins the Can Geo masthead as an Audain Emerging Photographer-in-Residence. Thanks to the generous support of the Audain Foundation, David will have the opportunity to shoot on assignment for Canadian Geographic in B.C. and to participate in events that promote visual storytelling.

He was also selected as a member of the Canadian Conservation Photographers Collective, where he contributes to conservation initiatives and visual storytelling efforts across Canada. He is also the official photographer for the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society NL and contributes photographic work to NatureNL and the Nature Conservancy of Canada, where he also serves as a Property Steward.

Through photography, conservation, and environmental stewardship, David has dedicated his life to preserving the landscapes and wildlife in his home Province. His hope is that his work will encourage others to experience the natural world more deeply and to become active participants in protecting it for future generations.
